Egg Points: The Shakshuka here is given a special kick with the smoked labneh – a traditional Lebanese soft cheese, with a slightly sour tang, that highlights the smoky flavours of the tomato sauce. Just brilliant.

The menu at Kopapa is Asian-inspired fun, shareable and highly creative – think sweet potato, spinach and pine nut dumplings with chilli pickle dressing and Peanut butter parfait with salted caramel sauce & chocolate crumble.
Egg Points: Taking inspiration from Turkish baked eggs, the chilli butter elevates this dish greatly, and whipping the yogurt makes it super light and fluffy. Perfect for expelling the winter blues with a serious chilli kick.
4. Best Shakshuka in London: The Original One, Honey & Co
What: Shakshuka with 2 Legbar eggs baked in a tomato sauce served with milk bun (£7.80)
Where: 25a Warren St, London W1T 5LZ
Why: If you’re going to do this properly, you need to go straight to the source. If you come at dinner time, you’ll find the place packed with hungry diners sampling the small plates and sharing courses of dips, spreads and fresh salads.
Egg Points: This Shakshuka is wonderfully done – simple, and effective. The tomato sauce has a slight chilli kick, and is rich with onions and garlic. 5. Best Shakshuka in London: The Homemade One, Blend
What: Shakshuka – eggs baked in a warmly spiced sauce of tomatoes and red and yellow peppers, served with toasted focaccia fingers (£7.50)
Where: 587 Green Lanes, London, N8 0RG
Why: Blend is the ultimate local cafe with a lovely homely feel; all their cakes are homemade, and everything is cooked to order. Try their homemade chocolate and beetroot cake while you’re there, or the fantastic sandwiches. They only use organic, free-range eggs, and all the beef is from grass-fed cows in Somerset. Happy days.
Egg Points: The dish is baked to order, and takes at least 15 minutes to arrive, which you know is a good thing. The use of yellow peppers in the sauce makes it more substantial, and the addition of focaccia is a great thing, with its salty, oily goodness. Get it with a pot of English Breakfast and you’ll consider yourself the luckiest person on earth.
