I say: there are few finer things in life than honey on warm, buttered toast. With the weather getting colder and the mornings darker, there’s no better way to perk yourselves up in the morning than with a speedy, nutritious breakfast – and a sweet breakfast is always my go-to in the winter months. Honey is the ultimate, natural breakfast ingredient, so whether you’re looking for a warming start to the day or something to fight off that office cold, these recipes have the perfect way to incorporate Rowse Honey’s new Snap & Squeeze honey into your morning routine. Let’s get breakfasting:
Toasted Bagel with Streaky Bacon, Gorgonzola, Figs + Honey
Serves: 1
Ingredients:
- 1 plain bagel
- 4 rashes streaky bacon
- 2 tbsp gorgonzola
- 1 fig, sliced into quarters
- 1 Rowse Honey Snap & Squeeze sachet
Method:
1. Pre-heat the grill to a high heat and cook the bagel for 8-10 minutes until crisp and golden brown, turning halfway.
2. Top with the bacon and figs.
3. Crumble the gorgonzola on top and drizzle the Rowse Snap & Squeeze Honey.
Winter Honeyed Porridge Oats
Serves: 1
Ingredients:
- 50g porridge oats
- Small handful of dried cranberries
- 1 sliced banana
- 200ml milk
- 1 Rowse Honey Snap & Squeeze sachet
Method:
1. Stir two thirds of the dried cranberries into the porridge oats and milk while simmering (following packet instructions for specific cooking times).
2. Pour into a bowl and top with the remaining cranberries and sliced banana, and finish by drizzling over the Rowse Snap & Squeeze.
Cinnamon French Toast with Banana + Honey
Serves: 1
Ingredients:
- 40ml milk
- 1 egg
- 1 knob of butter
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 2 slices of bread
- 1 sliced banana
- 1 Rowse Honey Snap & Squeeze sachet
Method:
1. Beat the eggs, milk, and cinnamon together and whisk until blended.
2. Dip each slice of the bread into the egg mixture and make sure each slice is covered and soaks up the mixture.
3. Melt some butter over a large pan on a medium to high heat.
4. Add the slices of bread to the pan and fry until golden brown on both sides, flipping the bread when necessary.
5. Top with the banana slices and drizzle with Rowse Snap & Squeeze Honey.
Super Smoothie Shake with Honey
Serves 1
Ingredients:
- 1 banana
- 1/2 an avocado
- 1 tsp chocolate protein powder
- 200ml almond milk
- Handful of frozen blueberries
- Handful of frozen raspberries
- 1 tsp chia seeds
- 1 Rowse Honey Snap & Squeeze sachet
Method:
1. Place all the ingredients into a blender and blitz until smooth.
2. If the smoothie is still too thick, add a little more almond milk and continue to blend.
3. Pour into a glass, drizzle Rowse Snap & Squeeze honey on top and garnish with a few chia seeds for decoration.
Crumpets with Almond Butter, Raspberries + Honey
Serves: 1
Ingredients:
- 2 crumpets
- Small handful of raspberries
- 2 tbsp almond butter
- 1 Rowse Honey Snap & Squeeze sachet
Method:
1. Toast the crumpets until golden brown and spread the almond butter generously over them.
2. Carefully place the raspberries on top and drizzle over the Rowse Snap & Squeeze honey.
Greek Yoghurt with Raspberries, Blueberries, Kiwi, Chia Seeds, Granola + Honey
Serves: 1
Ingredients:
- 1/3 tub Greek yoghurt
- 2 tbsp granola
- 1 kiwi peeled and sliced
- 1/2 handful raspberries
- 1/2 handful blueberries
- 1 tbsp toasted macadamia nuts
- 1 tsp of chia seeds
- 1 Rowse Honey Snap
- & Squeeze sachet
Method:
1. Layer the fruit and yoghurt together in a long glass or breakfast bowl.
2. Finish with the granola, chia seeds, nuts and extra fruit and drizzle over the Rowse Snap & Squeeze honey.
