If you can tear yourself away from your office’s air conditioning – there’s stacks of new openings, special pop-ups and soft launch offers up for grabs in London this week. Time to eat? Always:

1. For a New Opening: Platter

What: Platter London has reached a milestone: the catering company have opened their first coffee shop just a stone’s throw from Hyde Park. The coffee shop, aptly named ‘Platter’, serves Allpress artisan coffees, tailor-made food platters, iced drinks and freshly baked pastries to eat in or take away.

Why: Platter offers mini platters, consisting of sweet or savoury bites for one or two people. The mini breakfast platter includes fresh fruit, yogurt pots, bite-sized pancakes, ham and cheese croissant, and mini pots of Nutella. And for lunch there’s platter boxes and picnic platters, created fresh each day and designed to be taken out and enjoyed in the park.

2. For a New Burger: Gourmet Burger Kitchen 

What: What do you get when you top a beef patty with tempura prawns? GBK’s new Prawn Star burger. Surf and turf has never tasted so good. Get down to your local GBK and grab the burger plus drink and fries for less than fifteen quid.

Why: The burger features an original 6oz patty with two juicy wasabi tempura prawns, thousand island sauce, American cheese, smoked lettuce and picked onion, all held together with a classic sesame seed bun – finished off with a third and final mouth-watering prawn, the star.

3. For a Charitable Dish: Life Kitchen x Duck & Waffle 

What: Duck & Waffle has partnered with Life Kitchen, a cookery initiative that offers free cookery classes across the UK for people living with cancer, to create a new collaborative dish. The spiced duck doughnut with charred pineapple jam is available at Duck and Waffle, with all profits from the dish donated to Life Kitchen to help fund future cooking classes.

Why: A cause close to executive chef Tom Cenci’s heart, the specially designed dish takes inspiration from the signature Duck & Waffle doughnut combined with the famous pineapple tacos from the Life Kitchen classes.

4. For a New Collaboration: Nanban x Honi Poke 

What: Tim Anderson, MasterChef winner and chef patron of Japanese restaurant, Nanban, has teamed up with Hawaiian poké experts, Honi Poké, to launch a fiery limited-edition bowl. Available from Friday (6th July), 50p from each purchased bowl will be donated to Plastic Oceans to help their fight against ocean plastic pollution.

Why: Inspired by his passion for Japanese soul food, Tim’s ‘Angry Poké’ bowl features cubes of raw tuna coated in a generous helping of fiery scotch bonnet and honey ponzu sauce and complemented with cooling slices of fresh watermelon. Customise your bowl with your choice of sushi rice or veg slaw accompanied with avocado, sunomono cucumber, spring and crunchy onion, sesame seeds and black mushrooms.

5. For a New Opening: Mister Fitz

What: Mister Fitz’s Finest Ice Cream pop-up parlour is now open in Soho. From the gang behind Doughnut Time, the store offers an array of exciting confectionary-filled ice cream sandwiches, custom cones and tailor-made tubs.

Why: The menu includes eight ice cream sandwiches, with each featuring its own distinctive ice cream character. Flavours include John Lemon, a pair of lemon scoops sandwiched between two vanilla cookies and topped with meringue, or the Choc-ella Deville, made from Nutella ice cream, a Nutella cookie, and finished with a… you guessed it…Nutella crepe drizzle.

6. For a New Soft Launch Offer: Isla Ray 

What: A new cafe is heading to South East London, and to celebrate you can nab 30% off the bill from 3rd-6th July. Isla Ray is an all-day eatery inspired by the cafe culture in Melbourne – think coffees, open sandwiches, sharing platters and cocktails.

Why: The cafe-bar delivers a simple brunch to lunch menu throughout the day with a special sharing and bar snack offering from 5pm in the evenings. The breakfast menu includes overnight oats and a healthy exotic fruit and yogurt bowl, alongside coffees, pastries and a selection of sandwiches to grab. Throughout the morning and into the afternoon Isla Ray’s Open Sandwiches are available which feature ingredients piled high on crusty sourdough bread with toppings including brie and crushed walnuts with rosemary and maple syrup, and salmon, creme mascarpone and capers.
