About Time: Gothenburg Travel GuideBy Angelica Malin
Are you looking to do some traveling? Why not go to Sweden and visit one of Scandinavia’s most beautiful cities, Gothenburg. If you have never before been to Sweden or Gothenburg, we highly recommend you to at least spend a few days in the city, as it is an absolute delight. There are many things to experience and see in Gothenburg, so we recommend you spend at least two or three days in the city to get the feel of what a longer stay might deliver.
Accommodation
Finding accommodation somewhere will hardly be a problem with a vibrant city full of hotels. Our personal recommendation is Gothia Towers, a 29-floor skyscraper with a marvelous view over Gothenburg. The buildings house five exquisite restaurants where you can take in the entire city.
Alternatively, you may opt to visit the local casino for a night out instead. Cosmopol is known across the town and is a good spot for an evening of entertainment. You can put to practice the skills you picked up while playing online at gaming platforms like Unibet casino for example, or simply try your luck if you’re new to the gambling game. Spend a few nights here and utilize the hotel’s luxurious spa – a wonderful experience.
Take a trip to Archipelago
Only about an hour outside of Gothenburg, you have the archipelagos. Here you can experience the environment in a way you will not have done it before. It is so pretty, and you will find quaint little cafes and restaurants, so take advantage of this and enjoy yourself. It is cozy to be among the barren cliffs and small fishing village and decompress. When you are here, do not forget to eat some fresh Gothenburg seafood for which the city is known.
Visit the Garden Society of Gothenburg and the botanical garden
Are you a person with green fingers? Or do you just enjoy being in a relaxing environment filled with flowers and other plants? Then you cannot miss out on a visit to the garden society and the botanical garden. This place holds a lot of rich history. The society was founded in 1842 and is one of the best-preserved parks in all of Europe.
Gothenburg botanical garden is also a great destination. This place is home to almost 17 000 different species and covers an area of almost 175 hectares. The garden is immensely popular, with over half a million visitors each year.
Visit Liseberg
If you are looking to stay within the city and not venture out, Liseberg will offer you endless amounts of fun and a memorable experience of Gothenburg. Liseberg is considered one of, if not the greatest amusement park in Scandinavia. This place is filled with heart-raising attractions, shows, and other fun experiences for the whole family.
Liseberg is a place you can visit year-round and is particularly fun to visit during holidays as the amusement park transformed into a theme park fitting the holiday. The most popular times are during Halloween and Christmas. Liseberg during Halloween is not for the faint of heart, and during Christmas, the holiday spirit is unmatched anywhere else in the country.
If you plan to go to Liseberg, plan accordingly as the park is heavily visited, especially during the holidays. Prepare well in advance so you can guarantee a ticket and not miss out on one of the most memorable times you will have in Gothenburg.
