Eat This: Breakfast at Market Halls VictoriaBy Alicia Grimshaw
You know what the Victoria neighbourhood needs: more breakfast options. And ones that are located just across from the station (and no, we’re not having Pret’s bircher muesli for a third time in a row). Good news people, the traders at Market Halls Victoria have launched brand new breakfast menus. Scoff down silky smooth scrammy eggs at Eggslut or try Poke the Bear’s flavour-packed avocado on toast, Black Bear Burger’s brekkie muffins and let’s not forget Hotbox’s mega thicc burgers.
Poke The Bear
Poke the Bear’s menu features breakfast variations of its Hawaiian-inspired bowls. The signature – Poké-cado on Toast – is a take on the classic smashed avo on toast. Sourdough toast is topped with Atlantic salmon, smashed avocado, beetroot mousse, chilli flakes, sesame seeds, and garnished with pea shoots and watercress.
Eggslut
Eggslut, known for its iconic egg-focused menu, has created a Spicy Chicken Sando exclusive to Market Halls Victoria. The sando is filled with spicy fried eggs, chicken and cream cheese sauce in a brioche bun. The famous ‘Slut’ – a coddled egg on potato puree with baguette – is on the menu alongside classic egg sandwiches and truffle hash brown side.
Hotbox
Hotbox has combined its distinct smoked and grilled flavours for breakfast. The Breakfast Burger is inspired by one of its most popular burgers and features a beef patty, American cheese, pork belly, fried egg, chimichurri, chipotle mayo, onions and pickles in a soft bap.
Black Bear Burger
Black Bear Burger has created a menu focusing on breakfast muffins, using heritage pork patties and soft English muffins. The signature, ‘The Black Bear Muffin’, combines heritage pork patty, cheese, brekkie sauce, soft scrambled egg and onion jam, all crammed inside an English muffin.
