Attend This: Titanic: Echoes from the PastBy Adam Hassanali
London’s latest immersive attraction transports you into one of history’s most famous voyages. Titanic: Echoes From The Past, created by leading VR company Eclipso Immersive Entertainment, opened its doors in Camden during February. This cutting-edge virtual reality experience allows guests to explore the grandeur of the Titanic like never before—walking its decks, stepping inside its grand halls, and even witnessing the fateful iceberg collision.
The Lowdown
The experience begins deep beneath the Atlantic Ocean, where you are guided on a breathtaking dive to the Titanic’s wreckage. Here, you uncover lost footage from William Harbeck, the ship’s official filmmaker, setting the stage for a journey back in time to experience the Titanic in its full glory. You can explore third-class cabins, the bustling engine room, and the iconic grand staircase, all recreated with meticulous historical detail. Along the way, you will witness the daily lives of passengers and crew, uncovering the human stories that shaped the Titanic’s fateful voyage. The journey reaches its emotional peak as you step into the captain’s cockpit to experience the dramatic moment of impact with the iceberg.
The Tech
Developed in collaboration with the award-winning Small Creative Studio, this 30-minute free-roam experience uses state-of-the-art VR technology to deliver a historically authentic and deeply moving encounter with the Titanic’s legacy. As someone who previously has felt motion sick from VR, the technology was amazing and did not feel any side effects!
“This experience is a tribute to the Titanic’s enduring legacy and the countless untold stories of its passengers and crew,” says Antoine Lieutaud, Founder and CEO of Eclipso. “By combining cutting-edge technology with historical storytelling, we’ve created an immersive journey that captures the grandeur, the human stories, and the tragedy of this iconic ship.”
Karl Blake Garcia, London Venue Director, shares a personal connection to the project: “My great-grandfather was part of the team that built the Titanic. Bringing this story to life in Camden is incredibly meaningful, and I can’t wait for visitors to experience it in such an immersive way.”
Co-founder of Small Creative, Voyelle Acker, adds: “With free-roaming technology, you truly feel as though you’re walking the Titanic’s decks. This project perfectly aligns with our mission to create innovative, collective experiences that connect people to history in a powerful way.”
