The nights are creeping in, the big coat is giving us the eye from the back of the wardrobe and suddenly we’re in the mood for soup? That’s right, autumn is well and truly here. Despite being one of the less exciting seasons in the UK, it’s a great time for restaurants to refresh menus, and for us to get our fill before everything becomes overly festive and we’re eating stuffing for every meal. Put down the wrapping paper, here’s the best new menus in the capital right now.

1. For White Truffles: Sale e Pepe

What: Sale e Pepe, the swanky Italian restaurant in Knightsbridge, have just launched its new white truffle menu – and it’s a good’un.

Eat: With white truffles taking centre stage, expect traditional antipasti topped with lashings of the Piedmontese special, such as burrata caprese with plum tomatoes, basil and olive oil; beef carpaccio with rocket, sun-blushed tomatoes, toasted pine kernel and lemon mustard dressing; porcini mushroom soup with garlic crostini. Larger plates include freshly made tagliatelle filled with white truffle, porcini mushroom risotto with butter, parmesan and white truffle and a classic wagyu beef tartare topped with white truffle, among others. To finish: panna cotta served with truffle honey for a true essence of la dolce vita.

2. For a Menu Refresh: Dishoom

What: Big news: Dishoom has launched its most significant menu update since its arrival on London’s food scene in 2010. Alongside the much-loved hits, which are here to stay (hello, dal makhani), guests will be able to opt for new dishes from small plates, rolls and salads, to grills and curries.

Eat: Regional additions include a seafood staple, Goan Monkfish Curry and Fish Amritsari (flaky white fish marinated in spices then deep-fried to perfection). Grills include Makhmali Paneer, marinated in yoghurt, and a special Punjabi masala of coriander, carom seeds, and cumin seeds, and Grilled Greens featuring chunks of pineapple and sweet potatoes are perfectly charred with poblano chillies, and then tossed in a special homemade Jaadu Masala. Don’t miss the Coconutty Fruit Crumble topped with a scoop of creamy coconut ice cream.

3. For a Winter Menu: Sabine St Pauls

What: Sabine knows the score when it comes to the chillier months. The restaurant has just rolled out its new winter menu comprising comforting dishes, seasonal small plates and more.

Eat: Small plates such as Crispy Calamari Fries with Yuzu aioli. A Spicy Chicken Taco with avocado crema, jalapeno salsa, crispy onions and a Mozzarella Stuffed Gnocchi with basil pesto, cherry tomato confit to share. Also on the menu: a selection of skewers that include the Lamb and Mint Kofta with Cucumber raita, warm spinach flat bread; Tandoori Prawns with Asian slaw, mint yogurt, and a choice of Tostadas; Pulled Beef Bulgogi, Gochujang mayo, kimchi; and Chipotle Pulled Pork with Pico de gallo, coriander to name a few.

4. For a Lunch Menu: Dear Jackie

What: Broadwick Soho’s flagship restaurant, Dear Jackie, is opening for lunch later this month, offering a new set menu celebrating Italian classics and seasonal dishes with a modern twist

Eat: The set menu is a real pasta party, and features dishes such as Spaghetti Puttanesca with anchovies, olives and capers; Casarecce Amatriciana with tomatoes, guanciale and Pecorino Romano; and Pinsa Romana with San Marzano tomato, buffalo mozzarella and basil.

5. For a Corn-Filled Menu: Zapote

What: Zapote has welcomed in the harvest season with a celebration in ode to corn by paying tribute to one of Mexico’s most treasured ingredients. Chef Yahir Gonzalez, whose family has farmed corn for generations at Ex Hacienda Santa Barbara in Encarnación de Díaz, Jalisco, sources corn directly from his family’s 240-year-old ranch

Eat: The ode to corn menu – available until 28th October – features dishes such as roasted corn and recado negro; hand-dived scallop ceviche with persimmon and grilled sweetcorn; and sea bream aguachile served with salsa macha, fennel and totopos for sharing, as well as larger dishes of grilled bone marrow, beef tartare, heritage blue corn tortillas; and crispy corn tortillas topped with suckling pig and red cabbage.
