About Time: You Celebrated Mr Lyan’s 10th BirthdayBy Iona Goulder
Hold on to your hats, people. For the first time ever, five Lyan bars – and one restaurant – will be united under one roof, marking ten years since the opening of Mr Lyan’s first bar. Time flies when you’re banging out the tastiest cocktails in the capital.
The celebration – running from 11th – 13th October – will see Cub, White Lyan, Super Lyan, and Silver Lyan reconstructed in hotel guest rooms at Sea Containers (home to Lyaness), alongside the former World’s Best Bar, giving you the unique opportunity to enjoy all five venues in one location.
The Lyan team will recreate iconic features of each bar – including the fridges and black walls of White Lyan, the mirrored ceiling of Silver Lyan, the pink neon found at Super Lyan, and Cub’s mustard yellow seating.
Each bar will offer a selection of signature cocktails, including White Lyan’s Beeswax Old Fashioned (Macallan Double Cask 12yo, sugar, bitters, beeswax egg), Super Lyan’s Beatle Beetle Bug (Cornflake Patrón, oat dulce de leche, crickets, tea, citrus), Silver Lyan’s Presidential Gift (Glenfiddich 12yo, DC honey, applejack bitters), and Cub’s Krug Jelly (Krug Grande Cuvée, water jelly). Resurrected favourites also include the Pinnacle Point Fizz (Del Maguey, Blanco Tequila, nixtamalized blue corn, sloe, ginger bitters, sour pineapple, soda), and the Koji Hardshake (Johnnie Walker Blue Label, miso, koji, cream sugar, lemon juice, liquorice bitters). In addition, Seed Library, Super Lyan, Lyaness, and Silver Lyan will all run a celebratory ‘Lyan X’ menu for the duration of the event.
Working on the bar and floor will be current and former Lyan team members, including Mr Lyan, Iain Griffiths, Alex Lawrence, James Wheeler, bartenders from Super Lyan, Silver Lyan, and more to be announced, flying in from the USA and across Europe.
Cub is available as a separate experience, offering five dishes and five cocktails for £150, with former Cub chefs Doug McMaster (Chef Owner, Silo) and Matthew Scott (Chef Owner, Papi) at the helm. Our Cub dinner, with just one sitting per evening, showcases progressive sustainability, in a hotel room diligently and meticulously styled to give you an immersive, authentic Cub experience.
Tickets, priced at £100 for a 3-hour experience, include a welcome drink, access to all four bars, and a cocktail in each. Cub is available to book separately for dinner reservations, with five dishes and five cocktails priced at £150pp. Bookings here.
