About Time: You Discovered Unwined’s Seasonally Changing Wine KitsBy Alicia Grimshaw
The Alps may still be out the question for most this winter but not to worry, South London’s favourite wine bars, Unwined, have launched new, seasonally curated, in-a-box wine experiences to enjoy at home. The first in their range celebrates everything alpine – think cold climate wines and alpine cheeses. This winter, it’s all about apres ski at home.
Unwined’s founders Laura Aitken and Kiki Evans met working at Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen in 2007. Since the launch of their pop-up in 2012, the pair have been on a ten-year mission to make wine accessible, believing that when it comes to wine, it should be a conversation that everyone can join in with.
Unwined: Experience Kit
The first kit (£65) is be themed ‘Ski Season’, bringing a great night out – in, because let’s face it, we’ve all forgotten how to socialise post-lockdown, right?
Ski Season features an off-dry Riesling from the most southerly limits of Chile, an Austrian Zweigelt heated by thermal springs below the ground, and a delicate old vine Grenache from the Sierra de Gredos mountain range in Spain. Cheeses include a Vacherin Mont d’Or, which is traditionally made in the colder months when the cows come down from mountain pastures, an oozy Gorgonzola from Piemonte, and a nutty Gruyère-style cheese from the Swiss Alps – perfect for curling up with in front of a roaring fire.
