About Time: You Went to Fever-Tree Ultimate G&T BarBy Angelica Malin
Something very exciting is happening in Hoxton Square. The trendy East End haunt, populated with more burger restaurants per square mile than anywhere else in London, is about to become home to a dedicated Gin and Tonic bar; a place where your every after-work drink fantasy has become a reality. The bar is open for 6 weeks from the 12th June, and we think it’s well worth your time. Here’s what you need to know:
Fever-Tree Ultimate G&T Bar: The Lowdown
Pioneered by all-natural tonic gurus Fever-Tree, the dedicated Gin and Tonic bar has 160 fine and rare gins from all over the world at Monikers at 16 Hoxton Square. There’s different promoted gins showcased every week with their weekly changing themed ‘Gin Flight’ – a taster of 4 G&Ts with four different gins, tonics and suggested garnishes for £12. Every flight donates £2 to Malaria No More UK – the flight is a fun and interactive way to play around with different flavours and blends; you’ll find yourself nibbling strawberries, sipping some Sipsmith and having lots of laughs in the process.
Fever-Tree Ultimate G&T Bar: The Drinks
There’s a fantastic range of gins to choose from, but don’t be put off if you’re no gin connoisseur, the friendly and attentive staff are more than happy to help you find the perfect one. We stumbled on Smooth Ambler, a barrel-aged gin, served with dark chocolate and star anise garnish, which tasted like a whisky-infused gin; very meta and very delicious. The Hoxton Gin is a total game changer for non-gin lovers; if you like holidays flavours of coconut and pineapple, this one’s for you.
If you’re a keen bean, they are hosting Gin Masterclasses throughout the summer every Wednesday where for £12 you’ll get introductions into different brands, botanicals and the distillation process – more information and tickets here.
Fever-Tree Ultimate G&T Bar: The Supper Clubs
What’s more is Fever-Tree has teamed up with Check On for special Tuesday evening supper clubs; you’ll get 6-courses (plus G&T, of course) of seasonal, local food inspired by the Fever-Tree botanicals. The supper clubs kick off on the 17th June, tickets cost £35- more information and booking here.
The bar opens on the 12th June 2014. For information about the Fever-Tree Ultimate G&T Bar, see here.
