With restaurants back open, there’s never been a better time to explore the capital. From new openings to limited-edition dishes, and exciting collabs – here’s 5 things you need to eat in London this week:

1. For a New Menu: Baccalà

The Lowdown: Baccalà, the Italian seafood and wine restaurant on Bermondsey Street, have just launched their oyster aperitivo and all-new Fisherman’s menu. Grab it while it’s fresh.

Eat: From 12 – 6pm, Wednesday to Friday, indulge in their oyster aperitivo with the choice between three varieties of oyster from independent UK fisheries; Carlingford, Cocollos special n.3 from Ireland alongside Porthilly from Cornwall, each freshly shucked to order and served with Amalfi lemon and Baccalà’s homemade spicy tomato pepper sauce. Swing by for their new Fisherman’s menu which showcases local artisan producers from their Saturday seafood market and spotlights the daily catch from the UK coasts.

2. For a Menu Refresh: HotBox

The Lowdown: Spitalfields modern smokehouse Hotbox has recently unveiled a brand new menu, overseen by recently returning Executive Head Chef Lewis Spencer. Every dish on the menu has an element cooked over fire or smoke, and each item has been impeccably sourced from a chain of trusted suppliers.

Eat: Lewis’ menu showcases the best of British seafood and meat, cooked over fire. Dishes include Ember Scallops, blood sausage blistered piccolo tomato, pickled celery and grated horseradish and ted mullet escabeche served alongside pickled fennel, orange, chilli and carrot sauce and pickled cucumber. HotBox sources their scallops and mullet from Flying Fish and their seafood element change regularly based on what is available. Desserts celebrate flavours from sunnier climes, with dishes including pineapple tart tatin with rum and habanero, served with coconut ice cream.
