We can now finally say it – summer is *officially* here! There’s nothing like the season in London, with a buzz on the streets like nowhere else on earth (it almost makes our astronomical rent feel worth it!) With the new season also comes some fresh openings, so we’ve rounded up the best new kids on the block for all your summer feasting needs.

1. For Tapas: bar kroketa

What: Bar Kroketa, known for its innovative take on Northern Spanish tapas, is expanding with its second location on St Christopher’s Place, promising an exciting addition to London’s dining scene.

Eat and Drink: The seasonally changing lunch and dinner menu features many of the sought-after signatures from the original such as; Crab Toastie with house pickles, and the King Prawn Kroketa with prawn head alioli. Expect vibrant small plates such as Homemade Garlic Flatbread with smoked anchovies and miso butter, White Peach Gazpacho with peach, cherry tomato and almond pickle, and Cuttlefish cooked in its own ink served with potatoes. Fancy something more indulgent? Opt for the Spring Onion and Chive Kroketa topped with sour cream and Nacarii caviar.

2. For Regional Thai Dishes: KOYN Thai

What: KOYN Thai by Restaurateur Samyukta Nair and Rose Chalalai Singh celebrates the flavours, spices and cooking techniques of Thailand. You’ll find KOYN Thai hidden below Nair’s contemporary restaurant KOYN Japanese, which continues to reside on the ground floor of the Grosvenor Street location.

Eat and Drink: Reflective of Samyukta and Rose’s recent travels across Thailand, KOYN Thai’s offering reflects the complex flavours across the country. Drawing inspiration from the North, South and Central Provinces, the menu features dishes like Toasted Coconut Pomelo Salad, Thai Basil ‘Escargots’ and a Chiang Mai platter featuring spicy homemade pork sausage, capsicum Nam Prik, sticky rice and crackling pork skin.

3. For Salads: atis 

What: Salad bowl brand atis is sharing the leafy love with the launch of its flagship site on Regent Street.  The salads, freshly made on-site every day with thoughtfully sourced ingredients, are innovative, nourishing and most importantly, delicious.

Eat and Drink: Expect trusty favourites such as the Azetca and Seiz’a Caesar alongside the newly dropped atis seasonal Spring specials such as the acclaimed Jalapeño Taco and the Cashew Crunch Plate. This menu also features the Spring special – the Kimmy Kimchi Bowl – created in partnership with Korean chef Jihyun Kim (better known as Kimmy), which consists of rice, baby spinach, edamame and peas, kimchi radish slaw, spring onion and coriander, soft boiled egg, crispy shallots and Kimmy’s K.O. dressing, with the option to add sweet chilli salmon.

4. For Fancy French Food: La Maison Ani

What:  La Maison Ani is an elegant eatery and boulangerie from Evgeny Kuzin and Chef Izu Ani. Derived from Chef Izu’s family name Ani, the restaurant is set to offer a casual all-day dining experience with signature dishes highlighting both the rustic charm of the French countryside and the elegance of Parisian bistros.

Eat and Drink: The breakfast menu features a selection of Oeuf dishes from Benedicts to classic Omelettes alongside a Sucre menu starring French toast with strawberry jam and Chantilly cream. Les Plats Principaux includes classic Croque Monsieur, Seafood risotto with pistachios, Roasted fillet of seabass in tomato sauce with sumac rice, Whole baby chicken in Perigueux sauce with seasonal truffle and Lamb cutlets with pita bread and spiced aubergine. For dessert expect French classics with a twist such as Vanilla créme brûlée, Mango, banana and lime Panna Cotta and Saffron milk cake with mascarpone ice cream alongside a wide selection of viennoiseries.

5. For Tacos: TA-KO

What: Tacos are the order of the day at new opening TA-KO, located underneath Stoke Newington cocktail hangout, Victory Mansion. Expect big, bright and bold flavours of Asia served in soft corn tortillas, a selection of irresistible sides and a range of expertly crafted cocktails, the ultimate celebration of two incredible food cultures.

Eat and Drink: The menu includes a variety of tacos such as Blackened river trout, smoked aubergine nahm prik and lime labneh, Palm sugar glazed beef short rib, pickled kohlrabi with blackberry sriracha and Crispy cauliflower, black bean & tamarind ragu, avocado and pepper mayo. Other dishes on the menu include chilli corn, feta and lime, shredded Asian slaw, and Nori fried potatoes with Kampot pepper mayo, to name a few.

6. For Street Food: Metropolis London

What: A melting pot of global cuisines and entertainment has arrived in Vauxhall, with the opening of Metropolis London. With eleven of the best street food vendors all under one roof, expect signature cocktails, craft beers, and diverse dishes available to enjoy under the arches.

Eat and Drink: At Chipsy, expect loaded fries and a smoked BBQ feast, whilst Birria Taco brings Cal-Mex style tacos and ramen with a twist. At Sekushi it’s all about Japanese & Pan-Asian dishes with feel-good flavours and fresh ingredients, and from Karapincha, enjoy Sri Lankan food inspired by family recipes.

Fresco Trattoria Pizzeria tosses up a treat with fresh Neapolitan dough, with Lorenzo Kusina serving up soul food with a Filipino twist. Steak fans are seriously well catered for at O’Gosht; whilst it’s all about Uzbekistan dumplings at OshPaz; and for a sandwich experience like no other, head to the award-winning Sexy Buns. Saviours on a summer’s day, Gelato Lab will offer flavours galore from the Ice Cream Union with ice-cold mylk and fruit teas from Nuttea.

7. For a Residency: Supra Burger x Cocotte 

What: The newest kids on the burger block Supra Burger has moved into Cocotte in Queens Park for a summer residency. Tuck into the highest-quality burgers, drawing inspiration from New York and using premium ingredients only.

Eat and Drink: Supra Burger has launched with five banging burgers alongside delicious sides and flavourful sauces to perfectly compliment the juicy patties. The namesake Supra Burger is laden with cheese, onion, pickles and Supra sauce, the Bacon Cheeseburger has cheese, bacon, onion and a secret house sauce. The Classic Cheeseburger has cheese, salad, tomato and golden sauce, the Spicy BBQ comes topped with grilled onions and cheese and lastly the Truffle Burger has cheese, crispy onions and truffle sauce. There are four sides available and include Fries, Truffle Fries, Popcorn Ch#ken and Chicken Tenders.
