Eat Here: Wild Food Cafe, Covent GardenBy Angelica Malin
Truth be told, any menu item that has the word ‘wild’ in the description has me thinking of Miley Cyrus twerking on stage, albeit with a bag of quinoa. So when I ordered it on at Wild Food Cafe, the undeniably cute, inviting organic, raw cafe tucked away in Neil’s Yard in Seven Dials, I did worry that my food would arrive with a side of starlet.
Wild Food Cafe Review: The Lowdown
But luckily the plate arrived sans washed-up celebrity, and what a delightful plate it was. The Wild Falafel is nothing like falafel really, as it’s not deep-fried in breadcrumbs, and has a distinct coconut flavour. The falafel is served with sprouted houmous, which I imagine is chickpeas left to sprout overnight, a fresh, zingy tabbouleh, raw tomato salsa and plenty of omega-rich seeds. The dish is rich, filling and with its many colours; in short, a joy to eat.
Wild Food Cafe Review: The Food
There are lots of other enticing, colourful dishes on the menu – such as the rocket salad with courgette ‘spaghetti’ and unpasteurised Halloumi on sourdough bread. Wild Food Cafe is perhaps one of the more unusual choices for lunch, but it’s a cafe with enough atmosphere and pleasing sounds of Katie Melua and women debating pilates instructors to make you want to hang around.
Wild Food Cafe Review: Our Verdict
The raw chocolate tart, pimped out with fresh berries and a rich almond, date and coconut filling, and the green smoothies, also come highly recommended. As for the vibe, it can’t be beaten.
