The Lowdown: To celebrate Shrove Tuesday, Chef Director Tam Storrar will be whipping up fluffy crêpes and galettes in classics flavours, with Blanchette twists. 2. For Scottish Inspired Pancakes: Mac & Wild
Order: Deep-fried Mars Bar pancake with chocolate ganache and caramel (£10)
The Lowdown: Mac & Wild are bringing a taste of the Highlands to London this year for Pancake Day with their very own take on some of Scotland’s national treasures. The deep-fried Mars Bar pancakes consists of a crêpe filled with chocolate ganache and gooey caramel, with the pancake then battered and deep-fried to create a wonderful hot and crunchy outer layer, containing the gorgeous ganache and caramel deep within.

3. For Sweet and Savoury Pancakes: OSLO
Order: Buttermilk pancakes with candied bacon, blueberries and maple syrup (£5.95)
The Lowdown: A special creation to celebrate pancake day, OSLO have taken inspiration from across the pond with their new menu addition. Tucked beneath the redeveloped railway station in Hackney OSLO is a cosy spot to dig into a stacks of American-style buttermilk pancakes with candied bacon, blueberries and maple syrup (a vegetarian version is also available). To sweeten the deal, ticket holders for a gig at OSLO will receive 20% off the final bill.

Order: Jaggery Milk Hopper (£5)
The Lowdown: At Hoppers’ two sites at Marylebone and Soho, there gang will be serving an exclusive sweet version of their iconic hopper. The Jaggery Milk Hopper is made of coconut and filled with a heavenly coconut cream, finished with a sprinkling of Kithul Jaggery (unrefined cane sugar).

5. For Build Your Own Pancakes: Sea Containers
Order: Buttermilk pancakes served with maple syrup, chocolate sauce, berry compote and vanilla cream (£9)
The Lowdown: A London pancake day guide wouldn’t be complete without The Mondrian. The Mondrian is one of London’s leading design-inspired hotels; it’s all-day restaurant Sea Containers is beautiful – light, airy, super stylish – the kind of place perfect for everything from dates, to group dinners, and taking your mum. The Lowdown: When it comes to Pancake Day, The Kitty Hawk has nailed it. They will be serving up their epic breakfast pancakes all. day. long. Grab a gluten-free hunny, and tuck into homemade coconut pancakes with coconut yoghurt, fresh berries and maple syrup.

7. For Buckwheat Crêpes: Le Merlin
Order: Caramelised apple, homemade salted butter caramel and cinnamon crêpe (£5.50)
The Lowdown: Le Merlin is famous for its galettes, made of buckwheat flour, water and Guerande salt – and they’re gluten-free to0. There’s a smashing variety of sweet crêpes to choose from like the traditional sugar and lemon, to homemade salted butter caramel with chocolate sauce and grilled almonds, and seared pears with chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream.

8. For Hazelnut Pancakes: Berners Tavern
Order: Pancake stack with banana, Nutella and hazelnuts (£9.50)
The Lowdown: Every London pancake day guide needs a touch of class. For this year’s Shrove Tuesday, Jason Atherton’s award-winning restaurant Berners Tavern at The London EDITION will for preparing for Lent by whipping up a pancake stack topped with bananas and Nutella spread, and sprinkled with a generous layer of chopped hazelnuts.

9. For Home-Style Pancakes: Ralph’s Coffee and Bar
Order: Pancakes with blueberries and Vermont maple syrup (£9)
The Lowdown: For Shrove Tuesday, Ralph’s Coffee and Bar (ideally located adjacent to the flagship Ralph Lauren store on Regent Street), will be keeping it classic this year and will be serving up a stack of traditional fluffy American home-style pancakes with blueberries and Vermont maple syrup.

10. For Dutch Baby Pancakes: Where the Pancakes Are
Order: Bramley and Cox Dutch Baby with fresh berries, almond flakes and house cream (£9.50)
The Lowdown: The Dutch Baby is an American interpretation of a centuries old German dish. A bit like a giant Yorkshire pudding, the Dutch Baby is oven baked in a cast iron skillet, and takes about 20 mins to bake. At Where the Pancakes Are they’re offering a sweet option of Bramley and Cox served with fresh berries, almond flakes and house cream, and a savoury option of Goat’s, Parmesan and Cheddar with roast thyme and rosemary, served with a bitter salad.

11. For High-End Pancakes: Cut at 45 Park Lane
Order: American buttermilk pancakes, topped with whipped maple butter and seasonal berries
The Lowdown: One of our favourite spots in this London pancake day guide. Want a slice of luxury with your pancakes? Then pay a visit to CUT at 45 Park Lane. Wolfgang Puck and Executive Chef, David McIntyre know what makes a good pancake: a buttermilk base, whipped maple butter and seasonal berries. It’s the stuff pancake dreams are made of. And if you really want to go the whole nine yards, you can add on streaky bacon or sausage if you wish.

12. For Peanut Butter Pancakes: Foxlow
Order: The Elvis with peanut butter, maple glazed bacon and roasted banana (£8)
The Lowdown: Available until 18th February at all Foxlow sites, expect three very different pancake styles – whether you like yours simple and sweet, strong and savoury or indulgent. Take your pick from: the classic with lemon and sugar, mushroom and cornmeal with a fried egg and bacon dust, and The Elvis – a ricotta pancake with peanut butter, maple glazed bacon and roasted banana. All the money from the pancakes sales on Shrove Tuesday at Soho and Balham will be donated to Magic Breakfast, a charity that helps prevent disadvantaged children going hungry in the classroom.

13. For Boozy Pancakes: Bill’s
Order: Amaretto Sour Pancake with Prosecco (£10.95)
The Lowdown: Pancake Day is getting a makeover at Bill’s Restaurants this year, with the restaurant group celebrating ‘Glamcake Day’ with a new sophisticated pancake menu inspired by classic cocktails. The alcoholic Bramble Mojito pancake is served with a rum and lime syrup and blackberry mint cream, and the Amaretto Sour pancake features a sweet and creamy Amaretto filling, Italian meringue and toasted almonds.

14. For Chocolate Orange Pancakes: Aviary
Order: Chocolate pancake – chocolate mousse, popping candy caramel and vanilla ice cream (£6.50)
The Lowdown: City rooftop bar and restaurant Aviary’s pancakes provide a sugar high with an indulgent Terry’s chocolate orange treat filled with a generous helping of chocolate mousse, popping candy caramel and vanilla ice cream. The bitter-sweet lemon meringue pancake roll is filled with lemon curd, and served with crisp meringue, yoghurt sorbet and white chocolate fudge; or for a gluten-free option, choose the caramelised banana stack, topped with warm caramel, rum soaked raisins and whipped cream.

15. For Deep-Dish Pancakes: Dirty Bones
Order: Deep-dish pancake topped with fresh clotted cream, blueberries and maple syrup (£8)
The Lowdown: Perfect for those looking to celebrate Pancake Day on the weekends bookmarking the day itself, Dirty Bones are launching a new brunch menu (available at Dirty Bones Kensington and Shoreditch on Saturdays and Sundays) that includes the Double Dutch pancake – a signature deep dish pancake topped with fresh clotted cream, blueberries, and a shot of maple syrup.

Order: Caramelised sugar, tangerine and Cointreau (£9)
The Lowdown: Recently opened L’Ami Malo boasts a menu packed with both contemporary twists and Breton inspired varieties on the classic English pancake. Sweet crêpes come with fillings from apple compote, vanilla butter sauce and salted caramel, to the exceptional crepe soufflé with lemon and blueberries .

The Lowdown: Crêpeaffaire knock up a whole host of pancake varieties – from super indulgent crêpes and waffles to deliciously healthy gluten-free galettes made with organic buckwheat flour. The Lowdown: Situated within the stylish Blakes Hotel in South Kensington, Blakes restaurant is an elegant affair offering a range of pancake options. The light, fluffy pancakes comes with mixed berries or bacon and comes dressed in maple syrup, hitting the spot whether you’re in the mood for sweet or savoury.

The Lowdown: To celebrate Pancake Day, Deliciously Ella will be serving up made-to-order ‘live’ pancakes with a combination of four toppings throughout the day – all are vegan-friendly and gluten-free.
