Top 5: New Brunch Menus in LondonBy Alicia Grimshaw
Plans for this weekend? Brunch, obviously. If you’re in need of a new brunch hangout, we’ve discovered the best new brunch menus to satisfy your eggs and coffee cravings in the capital. Let’s get munching:
1. For a Bottomless Brunch: Bad Egg
What: Bad Egg is back full time by popular demand. Having re-written the rulebook for weekend brunch in 2014, Bad Egg’s new weekend bottomless brunch menu does not disappoint. There’s Prosecco on tap, Bloody Mary’s, Mimosas, incredible eats, and their signature soundtrack of old skool hip-hop, reggae and ska.
Eat and Drink: The brunch includes two hours of bottomless boozy fun plus two brunch dishes. There’s everything from house granola with Greek yoghurt and berry compote, to breakfast tacos filled with scrambled egg, chipotle, salsa and guacamole, and crispy mac n’ cheese balls with chipotle aioli. If you want to up the anti, choose the cheeseburger hash, basically all the parts of their cheeseburger except the bun, smashed with crispy potato and a fried egg, or the pork belly and slaw served with buffalo sauce. It’s outrageously good.

2. For a European Brunch: Herman ze German
What: Herman ze German has launched a new brunch menu fit for all the brunchin’ queens. Tuck into a selection of German inspired breakfast dishes of mouthwatering proportions alongside ze brand new extra punchy Bloody Mary, and a range of quality teas and hand roasted Union Coffee. Sausages. Coffee. Breakfast baps. Hell yeah.
Eat and Drink: First up on offer is the holy grail of brunch: avocado with two poached eggs on sourdough, garnished with a generous helping of pickled salsa. The Strammer Max, which tops sourdough with plenty of Black Forest ham, two fried eggs, pickled salsa and melted cheese is a German taste explosion. Be sure to check out their meaty buns for a hot morning treat. Fillings of choice include the finest smoked Black Forest bacon or Leberkäse (Germany’s famous sausage patty) or, for the truly hungry/hungover, the Big Fäddi Bumbaläddi packs both of these meaty delicacies into a soft bun with a fried egg and cheese for good measure. Ooo-er.

For a brunch plate, choose from wild boar sausage and haricot beans; poached egg, smoked cod and curried hollandaise; Montgomery cheddar and mushroom toastie, topped with a dollop of fruit chutney; to the

5. For a Spanish Brunch: Brindisa Shoreditch
What: Well get a load of this – on Bank Holiday Monday (1st May), Brindisa Shoreditch will be opening their doors to celebrate their new weekend brunch menu of Arroces, authentic, regional rice dishes taken from the heart of Spanish cooking. Despite the new found love of brunch throughout Spain, weekend eating is still firmly focused on rice with Arroces – one dish that will always have a place in the hearts, and mouths, of both the young and the old throughout Spain.
Eat and Drink: Head Chef Josep Carbonell has created five rice dishes that reflect and respect his culinary roots. Dishes will include Arroz de Costillas, a traditional recipe from Castilla, the heart of Spain, made with pork ribs and ‘morcilla’ black pudding; Caldoso de Bogavante, a broth based dish with lobster, taken from the shores of Valencia and the Paella Marinera with prawns, cuttlefish and mussels inspired by Josep’s childhood. The brunch rice dishes will be enjoyed straight from the pan, in true Spanish style: the bigger the group, the bigger the pan.
