Top 5: Ways to Eat Brunch in London This WeekendBy Alicia Grimshaw
It’s that time of the week again, where the weekend rears its head and we’re all whatsapping our chums organising Friday night plans and Saturday hangover cures. There’s only one plan you need to organise: brunch. Here’s the best spots you need to visit in London this weekend:
1. For a New Brunch Menu: Roast
What: Roast restaurant may be known for their hearty roasts on Sunday, but this London Bridge eatery is now using its culinary expertise to embrace the growing trend for brunch with its brand new offering, launching this weekend.
Where: The Floral Hall, Stoney St, London SE1 1TL
2. For a New Brunch Opening: Gabeto
What: Gabeto is the latest restaurant to open in Camden Market. The all-day bar and restaurant is overseen by Head Chef Lee Andrews, formerly of Chiltern Firehouse, who has created a modern brasserie menu that mixes carefully sourced British ingredients with a hint of Latin flavours.
Eat and Drink: The day begins with dishes such as the Scottish lobster tail with a pan-forked omelette, ham hock hash with shallots, potatoes and fried egg, and smoked cauliflower steak with Romanesco, baby aubergine and truffle. All-day brunch favourites also include the likes of kedgeree, with flaked haddock, parlsey, turmeric and poached egg, the Gabeto full house complete with eggs, smoked back bacon, chorizo, grilled tomato, mushroom, baked beans and fried potatoes, and the veggie fry up with two eggs, manchego, grilled tomato, and other vegetarian fare.
Where: The Stables Market, Chalk Farm Rd, London NW1 8AH
3. For a New Bottomless Brunch: Baba Boom
What: Baba Boom is on a meat-fuelled mission: a mission to show that kebabs aren’t just to be eaten when inebriated, but when done properly, can also be enjoyed as a hangover-busting-all-round-great-brunch-dish. They’ve just launched their new bottomless brunch offering – 60 mins of unlimited Frozen Margaritas, Bloody Marys and Mimosas for £15 when eating.
Eat and Drink: If you’re not coming for the good morning meat kebab, then you’re doing it all wrong. What you’re presented is nothing short of a brunch masterpiece – there’s thick cut, sweet date glazed bacon, eggs, other meaty delights, spice everywhere, and all of the above is sat atop a fluffy flatbread. Baba’s eggy bread will send your sugar level soaring, but it’s totally worth it. Nutella. Banana. Honeycomb. Clotted cream. All of that slathered on a slab of squishy and sweet eggy bread. It has a proper nostalgic kick about it, and that’s why we love it. We’re also a big fan of the veggie kebab, a statement that kebabs aren’t all about the meat.
Where: 30 Battersea Rise, London SW11 1EE
4. For a New Traditional Brunch: FLOCK
What: ‘Let’s go to Tower Hill for brunch’ said no one. Ever. Well, that’s all changed with the opening of FLOCK, a new coffee, bar and kitchen concept serving up a winning combination of premium quality coffee, cocktails, wines and freshly cooked food.
Eat and Drink: If it’s classics you’re after – you’ve come to the right place. There’s everything from avocado on sourdough with poached eggs to granola with yogurt and blueberries, and eggs Benedict. If you’re yearning for something heartier, opt for the full English breakfast featuring all the usual suspects or the steak and eggs with spinach and Hollandaise. There’s also cakes, croissants and coffee.

5. For a New Japanese Brunch: Shoryu
What: There is nothing on earth which hits that savoury spot quite like a steaming bowl of ramen, and Shoryu are up there with the best ramen purveyors in our fair city. Imagine their bowls of ramen – but bottomless. The Shoryu Covent Garden restaurant have just launched a new Japanese brunch on Sundays for £38 per person.
Eat and Drink: The bottomless brunch includes unlimited drinks – pick from red and white house wine, sparkling wine, Kobai plum wine with soda, green tea or Calpico. Kick off with a bowl of edamame and a choice of a Shoryu bun, and choose four sides: chicken karaage, tiger prawn tempura, takoyaki, black sesame tofu or Hakata tetsunabe gyoza (there’s loads more on the menu). For the main event, slurp your way through bottomless ramen, and finish off your brunch banquet with two scoops of ice cream.
