New Opening: Shelter Hall, BrightonBy Alicia Grimshaw
Big news for Brighton: Shelter Hall, the city’s first and only food hall has finally opened its doors. Expect a huge influx of new local Sussex talent based on the iconic seafront from the likes of MasterChef 2018 winner Kenny Tutt, poultry legends Lost Boys Chicken, and seafood mavericks Caught by Crabshack.
Brighton’s newest cultural destination is home to six of Sussex’s most exciting chefs and food concepts, who each bring a brand new concept to the venue. Start your day at Shelter Hall with one of Tart by Sourdough’s freshly made pastries and artisan coffees, and then see yourself through till lunch with a pick of a selection of vibrant salads and juices at Zest by Hanoi Kitchen.

Further recommendations from the Shelter Hall team include trying the Korean Kimchi Buttermilk Chicken bun from Pan by Lost Boys Chicken; sampling local seafood with Crabby Loaded Fries from Caught by Crabshack; or finishing up any feast with Amalfi by VIP Pizza’s indulgent Nutella Pizza. MasterChef 2018 winner Kenny Tutt joins the roster with the launch of OX Block – a robata grill serving up delicious, seasonal meats for BBQ, such as 45 Day Aged Hanger Steak, Gunpowder Chicken Thigh and The Butcher’s Block to share amongst friends.
The newly restored Victorian building is the ultimate all-day destination to celebrate the return of outdoor dining and the warmer weather that April brings. Keep an eye on Shelter Hall’s website and social channels to see new updates and events from the arts and entertainment programme. With over 2,500 bookings made in the first week reservations opened, make your reservation on Shelter Hall, or simply stroll by for a chance to secure walk-in spaces.
